Introducing the Pineapple

The pineapple, a fruit known for its sweetness and vibrant color, is a repeated icon in American culture. It is displayed as a decorative motif in architecture, garden accents, and home ware dating from the colonial America through current day. But the pineapple has a historical context that may lead to a reinterpretation of its significance, deemed by colonial historians as a sign of hospitality, to the sexual undertones it connotes.
